Changing World, New Relationships

Each year, the Muslim Council of Britain leads a delegation of professionals, community leaders and entrepreneurs to the annual World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) with the aims of sharing experiences, developing new ideas and networking.

Launched in 2003 at the OIC Business Forum, the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) is a global conference. It acts as an international business platform where the business sectors of the Muslim world meet for business opportunities and, together with the government leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers and academics, act as a hub where policy proposals on economic development can be formulated.

Delegates enjoy a unique opportunity to participate in a historic forum drawing together professionals and decision-makers from a wide range of Muslim countries.

The Muslim Council of Britain played a key role when the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum came to London in October 2013, and with this was the launch of the Muslim Pound publication.

The MCB has been leading delegations to the WIEF since its inception. The delegations are led by Sir Iqbal Sacranie, former Secretary General of the MCB and a member of the International Advisory Panel to the WIEF. In addition to the advertised programme of the Forum, the MCB organises its own activities and meetings, including networking meetings with local groups and visits to local places of interest.

We have tried to keep our costs at a minimum, but it has become necessary to require applicants to pay a non-refundable application fee to cover our administrative and logistical costs. An application is not valid without such payment. The fees for applications is GBP100. The fee is refundable only if an application is unsuccessful.

Kindly note that delegates shall be responsible for arranging and paying for their own flights and accommodation for the conference. The MCB shall however advise delegates of appropriate flights and hotels for the conference. It is envisaged that the average cost to a delegate will be GBP 1,000.
